Job Description

The Production Loader operates cocoa powder melter machines in a food production facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role involves frequent heavy lifting, monitoring and adjusting equipment through a computer interface, performing quality checks, and supporting general production and warehouse activities in a warm, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Load cocoa powder into melter machines according to production requirements and established procedures.
  • Lift, move, and handle bags weighing up to 50 lbs on a frequent and repetitive basis.
  • Use a computer interface to monitor machine weights, temperatures, and overall performance, making adjustments as needed.
  • Accurately document production data on paper forms and in the computer system to maintain complete and compliant records.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting on equipment when issues arise, using mechanical aptitude to identify and resolve minor problems.
  • Conduct quality checks before, during, and after machine runs to ensure products meet food safety and quality standards.
  • Assist with general production and warehouse duties as needed, including loading, assembly, and machine setup.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with food safety, GMP, HACCP, and quality guidelines.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures and instructions, including time management expectations and production schedules.
  • Work effectively in warm environments, including areas that may reach up to 120°F during peak summer periods.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and participate in team meetings and continuous improvement activities.
  • Climb stairs regularly throughout the shift to access equipment, platforms, or different production areas.
  • Consistently wear required personal protective equipment, including hairnets, beard nets (as applicable), steel-toed boots, ear plugs, and gloves.
  • Support safe operations by reporting any safety concerns, equipment issues, or quality deviations promptly.

Essential Skills

  • Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred, especially in food manufacturing or general production environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, machine monitoring, and use of computer interfaces.
  • Comfort working in high-heat environments, including warm work areas up to approximately 120°F.
  • Mechanical aptitude for basic troubleshooting, machine operation, and machine setup.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
  • Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven setting.
  • Comfort working in louder-than-average noise levels while using required hearing protection.

  • Food manufacturing, inspection, or quality checks in a production environment.

  • Ability to adapt to rotating schedules and overtime requirements in a 24/7 operation.

Work Environment

This role is based in a food production facility that operates 24/7, with positions available on multiple shifts: first shift from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., second shift from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and third shift from 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The schedule follows rotating days off, ensuring two consecutive days off while requiring availability to work all days of the week, including at least two weekends per month. Overtime is common, with employees typically working an additional 5–10 hours per week. The environment includes warm work areas, which can reach up to 120°F during peak summer, and louder-than-average noise levels, making consistent use of hearing protection essential. Employees regularly go up and down stairs throughout their shift and work around production machinery and computer interfaces used to monitor weights, temperatures, and performance. As this is a food production facility, strict adherence to food safety and quality standards is required. Dress code includes wearing hairnets, beard nets (as applicable), steel-toed boots, ear plugs, and gloves at all times during the shift. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $23.50/hr.
