Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chemistry teacher to join our secondary science department. The successful candidate will deliver Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level Chemistry to students aged 14–18 in a well-established international school serving expatriate families.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver rigorous IGCSE and A-Level Chemistry lessons in line with Cambridge Assessment International Education syllabus .
Prepare students for external Cambridge examinations, including regular formative/summative assessments, practical exams, and mock tests with detailed feedback.
Design and conduct laboratory practical sessions that develop students' experimental skills, data analysis, and scientific inquiry.
Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations in the laboratory, including proper chemical handling, waste disposal, and risk assessments.
Develop and update schemes of work, lesson materials, and differentiated resources to cater to a diverse international student body.
Track and monitor student progress using data-driven approaches; provide timely intervention and extension support.
Write detailed student reports and participate in parent-teacher conferences, academic reviews, and university recommendation processes.
Collaborate with the science department to align curriculum mapping, share best practices, and develop cross-topic projects (e.g., environmental chemistry, biochemistry links).
Uphold school policies on safeguarding, academic integrity, and inclusive education.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field (Master's/PhD preferred).
Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
Minimum 3 years of IGCSE and A-Level Chemistry teaching experience in an international school setting (Cambridge examiner or moderator experience is highly advantageous).
Strong laboratory management skills and demonstrated experience with Cambridge practical assessment requirements.
Proven track record of strong IGCSE/A-Level examination results.
Ability to engage and inspire high-achieving students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
